“ The food is amazing, but this time the service was horrible. It looked like they were short staffed. The ones working were inexperienced and brought out the wrong food. The guy who took our order, never came back to check on us. It took 30 minutes to get the wine. I definitely recommend the quesadilla, the cheese and jalapeno kulcha and the rendang. The ambiance is good, though the place is so small. ”
“ the best unauthentic Indian spot! we came in from work and it was pouring rain. close to our office, coworkers recommended. the naan was yummy dipped in short ribs curry . I'll have to try the chicken pot pie next time, looked delish. the cauliflower apps hit the spot. plan on another trip soon! ”
“ Today I checked out Cali Chilli's Long Beach Lunch Week special (actually good for 2 weeks). They also run a night special. One gets to order 3 items from the Appetizer/Entree section and then the Panna Cotta dessert is standard for the Special. All was fabulous. The food was tasty, well-presented, nice ambiance, and good friendly service! Who could ask for more! I was with a friend. We check out the Pesto Paneer (yummy tofu-like cheese with pesto); Cali Chilli Chicken Wings (small but flavorful); Cali Sticky Ribs (hearty and comes with a little grilled corn); Chicken Vindaloo (flavorful curry as one would hope for and expect): Kathal Malai Kofta (interesting vegan croquets that were a nice contrast); garlic naan (nice and crisp); and saffron rice. We only nibbled on the Vanilla Panna Cotta dessert as we were stuffed. Stop by. Reservations accepted and probably a must at night. ”
“ I was so excited when I saw that Cali Chilli was on the list of restaurants participating in DineLA's Restaurant Week from 1/24/25 - 2/7/25 and immediately made a reservation! I had high expectations from positive reviews from a fellow foodie coworker of mine. Glad to share that I had an amazing experience dining here for lunch! The ambiance is gorgeous and chic, service was excellent, and the food was SO delicious! I ordered the Cauliflower Fritters, Cali Sticky Ribs, and Butter Chicken Wings. My order came with Saffron Rice and Garlic Naan. My food was so flavorful and fragrant. Dessert was a creamy and tart panna cotta with berries. I am looking forward to dining here again and trying more off the menu! Highly recommend. ”
“ Very unique and interesting, love their title "unauthentic indian food", a little pricey but it's very nice inside - works great for a date - so all things considered, it's something I WOULD repeat again. This is the kind of place where you need to try multiple dishes so if someone is not hungry, and there's only 2 of you, it's not ideal! ”
“ A leveled up Indian cuisine with a twist - that's how I would put it. Their menu is not just ordinary Indian food but they got great mix variety of dishes elevated and a bit fusion-ed. Service is great and the ambiance is pretty cool. We got eggplant lasagna, tandoori sea bass, and lamb vindaloo. All these dishes were amazing! Eggplant was simply delicious, tandoori sea bass was out of this world and, that lamb was so tender it was falling off the done. I loved this place and I will be coming back to try different dishes they got on their menu. I highly recommend this place. ”
“ Truly enjoyed dining at Cali Chili! Their menu offers a selection of bold, fusion dishes centered around Indian flavors. To start, we tried the Pani Puri Poppers, which were not only tasty, but also fun. It comes with a shot of sauce that you pour in the Pani Puri before popping it into your mouth. For our main courses, we chose the Butter Chicken Pot Pie and Cali Chilli Rendang (plus a side of rice). The Butter Chicken Pot Pie was a standout; the flaky, buttery crust dipped in the rich butter chicken filling was delicious. I would definitely order it again! These three dishes were more than enough for the two of us, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Looking forward to my next visit! ”
“ I had Cali Chilli bookmarked for a while, so was glad I finally got to try it when I was in the area. I managed to find street parking nearby, but there is not a ton of parking so be forewarned. The inside is gorgeous and not what you would expect from the exterior appearance. Unfortunately, the day I visited they were having internet issues so could only accept cash. I had to go withdraw cash from an ATM across the street since their dishes are not cheap. Service was fine, and the menu was diverse (I particularly appreciated all of the zero proof drink options). We ended up ordering the butter chicken pot pie and the lunch special with eggplant and lentils. The lunch special is still a bit pricey at $30, but it comes with salad, garlic naan, and saffron rice (and the rice had real saffron in it). Both the eggplant and lentil dishes were flavorful and outstanding. The garlic naan was just a little bit burnt, but otherwise tasty, and I noticed that the naan was thicker than other places. I would have liked an even flakier puff pastry top for the pot pie, but the butter chicken was piping hot and bathed in a very rich sauce. We also had a nice cup of hot chai and the chai tiramisu for dessert. The chai tiramisu was very well presented though the chai flavor didn't come out enough for me. Overall, the quality and flavors of Cali Chilli definitely shine, but this is reflected also in its significantly higher prices. ”
“ If I could give more than 5 stars I would! O M G. The Sev Puri was perfection as our starter. Superb! The star of the show is their Truffle Chicken Tikka. It was so amazing I would have licked the plate and I nearly did. You must order this when you go there! The rendang tasted like Indonesian rendang so if you don't like that anise or clove flavor don't get this one, but I liked it so all good. The burrata saag paneer was delicious but on the lukewarm side so take that as a tip. Butter naan and garlic naan were made to order hot and fluffy. And the saffron kulfi was perfectly paired to end the night. The staff were friendly and attentive. Plenty of street parking out front. And their decor was very sleek and elegant. Great place for a date night you non-single people out there! I now rarely find a spot that impresses me because I'm super critical with the flavor of my food, but holy smokes blow me down. I will be back to try all the other items on their menu. Go, drive, fly to this delicious fusion hot spot in LB! Like Arnold... I'll be back for sure!!! ”
“ What a fantastic hole in the wall! We ordered the puri poppers to start, and for entrees, we ordered the old school tikka masala, lamb biryani, saag paneer, and butter chicken pot pie. The puri poppers were a tasty appetizer and I thought it was cool how you could drink the sauces after like a shot. The portion of the tikka masala was tiny, but the flavor made up for it. Each bite of chicken was tender and flavorful. I loved how unique yet familiar it was to other ones I've tried. The lamb biryani was a good portion for the price compared to the others. The lamb was also tender and fell off the bone. The saag paneer and butter chicken with naan were delicious. The food took a little long to come out, but worth the wait. Overall, I love the spin they put on traditional dishes, and the presentation was just as amazing as the food. Great service and easy parking. Definitely recommend! ”
